PL2 Preview: City Welcome West Ham To Filbert Way

Leicester City’s Development Squad resume their Premier League 2 campaign on Monday evening when West Ham United visit King Power Stadium (7pm kick-off).
More on this story...

The Foxes have made an encouraging start to the new Division 1 season with a 1-0 victory over champions Everton being followed up by a 2-2 draw at Manchester City.

However, the City Under-23s will be hopeful of recovering swiftly from a 3-0 reverse to Fleetwood Town in the Checkatrade Trophy just before the international break.

Ahead of the fourth matchday in PL2, here are five things you may not already know...

Beaglehole seeks a reaction

During his post-match briefing with LCFC TV in Fleetwood, Beaglehole said: “It’s a tough result. In all fairness, 3-0 flattered us.

Beaglehole Disappointed With Defeat

Steve Beaglehole spoke to LCFC TV after his side's Checkatrade Trophy fixture against Fleetwood Town on Tuesday evening.

“We’ve said before that these matches tell you more than Under-23s games because you’re playing against men who have got that competitive edge about them.

“We’ve got to learn from this. It’s a tough industry and there are some good players in the lower leagues.”

Last time out

City’s last clash with the Hammers came in the form of an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Premier League Cup at Chigwell Construction Stadium back in early February.

A brilliant first-half brace from Admiral Muskwe was nullified by Declan Rice and Nathan Holland strikes for the hosts to leave City's hopes of progressing to the knock-out round in the balance.

The timing of Holland's late equaliser, falling in the 86th minute, was a cruel blow for the Foxes on a night which saw many deliver standout performances.

Opposition in focus

Goals – and plenty of them – have been a feature of West Ham’s opening four weeks to the new season.

In their last outing, Terry Westley's side succumbed to a 7-2 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League International Cup, a fixture that was preceded by a 5-2 success over Swansea.

The Hammers sit three places above City in the PL2 standings, in third place, with two wins and a draw to their name after just three matches of the new campaign.
