LCFC Women regained some momentum at the weekend when the Foxes kept a clean sheet and beat Brighton on penalties at Broadfield Stadium to climb to second in Group D of the League Cup.

Happy to improve on their last outing at Crawley, the Manager spoke about their high press that led to more chances, and mentioned Saori Takarada's efforts in the no.9 position.

We are going the right way and we have to keep working on it.

"I think it was a better performance than when we played them last time," Miquel admitted. "We were really aggressive on our press. The overall performance was better and I think probably we should've scored a goal.

"She (Takarada) is doing fine, she used to play as a striker in the younger age groups for Japan, so she can handle play in these different positions. She's got good qualities to play there even though I like her as a midfielder.

"It is frustrating to not be scoring goals but we have to focus on the positives. We did have a lot of chances and the more we create, at some point, we will score them.

"We are going the right way and we have to keep working on it."

At the other end of the pitch, Leicester kept their third clean sheet of the season in all competitions and the former Stade de Reims Manager believes this creates a positive headache with an abundance of defenders staking their claim for the starting line-up.

Miquel added: "It's a big chance to have so many defenders in the squad, and they could all be playing for me the way we are doing defensively. When we return, we'll try to pick who we think is best but we need to rotate because the players need to have that chance.

"We want to play all the competitions because that's what keeps us a high level team. Obviously we want to play well in the WSL but like today, we get positive vibes from winning which we can take into the league."

With an international break up next, City's Manager says work will keep being done behind the scenes to ensure the momentum doesn't halt while a large majority of the team are away to represent their countries.

"We're going to be a bit lonely because of so many players going on the international break," Miquel continued. "So we're going to train as best as we can with such a low number and then prepare well for when we return."
