Dragović Eager For More Involvement
- Aleksandar Dragović discusses his recent appearances for Leicester City prior to Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup tie with Fleetwood Town (12:45pm kick-off)
- The defender says he has settled well at the Club since making the move from Bayer Leverkusen on loan
- Dragović has gained plenty of experienced from training and playing with a number of talented defenders at the Club
Currently on loan from Bayer Leverkusen until the end of the season, the 26-year-old made his fifth appearance for the Foxes on Monday against Huddersfield, slotting in at centre back in place of the injured Wes Morgan.
Prior to that, Dragović operated at right back against Watford and while the Austria international feels most comfortable at the heart of defence, he says he will play wherever he is required by Claude Puel.
“I am always happy that I can play,” said Dragović. “Right defender is not my position – my position is central defender – but when the coach tells me I must play there then I will play there.
Dragovic Previews Fleetwood Task
Aleksandar Dragovic speaking ahead of Saturday's FA Cup Third Round tie.
“When he says to me I must play goalkeeper then I will also play! I will give my best. We lost against Watford, but I can help the team.
“I must say that in the first two weeks, it was a little bit heavy. After two or three weeks, I came in. Christian Fuchs helped me a lot especially. I’m happy to be here in Leicester and to help this team.”
Since making his senior debut in 2009, Dragović has won 10 major trophies including cup competitions in Austria, Switzerland and Ukraine.
“In the past, I’ve won cups,” he continued. “I know how difficult it is to win.
“You must also have a little bit of luck but when you play step-by-step and don’t think about the final, you can maybe win.”
Featuring alongside experienced professionals at the Club has been beneficial for Dragović, who has been impressed by a number of defenders since joining the Foxes in the summer.
He added: “We have very good defenders like Wes Morgan. Not only Wes Morgan but H (Harry Maguire) as well.
“Yohan [Benalouane] is also a very good defender so everybody gives 100 per cent. I have learnt a lot off H especially because he’s a very good football player. I want to learn every day from them and hopefully one day I’ll be so good like them.”
