Leicester Well Beaten By Leaders Manchester City
Making two changes to the side that drew with Swansea City last time out, Claude Puel watched his men fall behind after three minutes following Raheem Sterling’s effort from close range.
But they responded well and when Nicolas Otamendi gave the ball away in midfield, Jamie Vardy pounced. The Club’s top scorer evaded two challenges before firing low past Ederson to haul City level on 23 minutes.
Efforts from Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva were then turned away by Kasper Schmeichel in the first period and while City headed in level at the break, the hosts soon took the lead.
Argentina striker Aguero netted his first of the game to restore Manchester City’s advantage, with playmaker De Bruyne again providing the assist.
Soon after, Pep Guardiola’s men moved into a 3-1 lead, with De Bruyne and Aguero combining for a second time in five minutes.
Aguero then sent a strike off target, while Otamendi had a volley saved by Schmeichel with just under 15 minutes to play.
Man City continued to impress and when Aguero latched onto a loose ball, he lifted a fine chip over Schmeichel to make it 4-1 – his hat-trick strike.
There was still time for the Citizens frontman to score a fourth, as he hammered a stunning strike in off the underside of the bar late on.
Vardy then tested Ederson with a good header, but the Foxes could not breach Man City’s back line for a second time.
Major moment
With the scores level at 1-1, the Foxes will have wanted to start the second half on the front foot, but Sergio Aguero’s 48th-minute strike was a huge blow.
His effort was a foundation for the hosts to build on and they did exactly that, as Aguero added three more goals.
Who impressed?
On Saturday, Jamie Vardy scored his 13th top-flight goal of the season and it proved to be a record-breaking strike.
He is the only Premier League player in history to score against Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal in a single season.
Where do we stand?
Following the defeat, Leicester City sit eighth in the Premier League table – one point behind Burnley.
