Hamer: Keep Plugging Away

Hamer made his first Premier League start since January 2015 on Thursday night to help the Foxes to a goalless draw with Southampton at King Power Stadium.
Leicester undoubtedly mustered up enough goalscoring opportunities to win the game and while Hamer was frustrated not to claim all three points, the intent his side showed was positive.
“We’re all frustrated, we wanted to win and obviously put to bed the recent run of form that we’ve had at home,” Hamer told LCFC TV.
“It’s not been great and we were desperate to get a win after Burnley last week as well, when we desperately tried to win the game.
“At the end of the day, we haven’t scored, but we kept the ball out of the net, so it’s a point in the right direction and we’ve got to keep plugging away until the end of the season and keep putting in some good performances.”
Hamer was one of five changes Claude Puel made for the fixture and the stopper highlighted the late introduction of Academy graduate Hamza Choudhury and Premier League debutant Harvey Barnes as a big plus point for the Club.
He continued: “When the boys come in, they’ve got to perform, that’s part of being in a squad. It’s a big squad and the lads who come in have got to take their opportunities and do well.

“Players were playing in different positions and we’ve seen again, the two young lads have come on which is also a big positive for us.
“I thought we dealt with the challenges well, apart from not scoring the goal at the end.”
City next face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday 28 April and for Hamer, that is another chance to close the gap on Burnley in seventh position.
“The boys are desperate to finish seventh this year, and obviously try and force that Europa League spot, but the result last week killed us a little bit,” he added.
“It wasn’t great for us, but we bounced back and got a point in the right direction.
“We’ve got another four games left now I think and we’ve got to keep on looking to get positive results and hopefully we can put a bit more pressure on.”
