Maddison's Pride After Impressive Foxes Start

The decision to join Leicester City has been justified by regular playing time and a maiden England call-up, says James Maddison.

- Maddison has been in fantastic form for the Club since arriving earlier this year

The expressive midfielder, who signed for the Foxes in the summer, has scored three goals and registered two assists - leading to a first-ever senior England call-up.

After such a short period of time, Maddison would be forgiven for settling into King Power Stadium life slowly, but his inner confidence and raw abilities have allowed him to shine.

As City prepare to tackle Arsenal, on a nine-game winning run in all competition, Maddison spoke to the media ahead of the trip to Emirates Stadium on Monday (8pm BST kick-off).

Training Special: Arsenal

Watch the lads hard at work on Thursday morning ahead of the Foxes' trip to north London to face Arsenal at Emirates Stadium...

"It’s been brilliant since I signed a few months ago, I’ve settled in so quickly and I feel at home here," the 21-year-old said.

"I’m definitely happy with my decision to come to Leicester City, I’ve started all the games and I’ve had a good return and long may that continue.

"There’s so much competition for places here, it’s the Premier League, we’ve got such a talented squad. We’ve got so many good players in that dressing room.

"It’s never easy to be a regular in the starting XI, but I’ve worked hard in pre-season and my performances have been relatively good, so I think I’ve been deserving of the starts."

We will go there with a game plan, and attempt to try and win the game, as we always do. It’ll be a good spectacle hopefully.

Maddison's assurance in his own qualities has been on show for everybody to see this term, spurring him on to make a brilliant start to his Foxes career.

"I always believe in my own ability, that I can come to this level and have an effect," he added.

"I wouldn’t use the word easy, as you come up against some really tough opponents, but it’s been a step up and one I’ve relished.

"Hopefully I can keep my form high and my performances good and we can carry it out for the rest of the season."

However, Unai Emery's Gunners are likely to pose City's toughest test so far after recovering from two opening defeats with nine successive wins in all competitions.

"They’re in very good form," Maddison continued. "We know how much of a threat they are, they’re a very good team, with some world-class attacking players.

"But we will go there with a game plan, and attempt to try and win the game, as we always do. It’ll be a good spectacle hopefully."
