Continued Success For City's Eight Loan Stars
- Eight Leicester City players continue to impress greatly while out on loan this season
- Academy products Harvey Barnes, Elliott Moore and Max Bramley are earning experience on loan
- Barnes has scored six goals for West Bromwich Albion in the Championship
- Defender Moore now captains Oud-Heverlee Leuven in Belgium's second tier, also scoring three goals
- New signing Filip Benković is also receiving acclaim for his performances at Celtic this term
One player who has particularly impressed in new surroundings is Academy graduate Harvey Barnes, who has scored six goals in 19 outings for West Bromwich Albion.
Supporters of the Sky Bet Championship side, who currently sit fifth, have lauded his talents as Barnes, 20, continues to deliver sparking displays for the Baggies.
His spell at The Hawthorns began with a stunning goal on his debut in a 2-1 defeat by Bolton Wanderers – a strike which was eventually awarded the Goal of the Month prize in August.
The spectacular goals continued to flow for Barnes – who has struck against Norwich City, Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday, Reading and Leeds United so far this season.
City’s talented midfielder has also been a useful source of creativity for Darren Moore’s men, providing three assists in the league and one in the Carabao Cup.
Earlier this year, Barnes was called up to the England Under-21s squad for the first time, helping the Young Lions to a 2-0 victory over Scotland at Tynecastle in October.
Fellow Academy graduate Elliott Moore, meanwhile, has become a figure of authority for Belgian Proximus League outfit Oud-Heverlee Leuven, managed by former City boss Nigel Pearson.
In 13 appearances for OHL, the 21-year-old centre back has also notched three goals, as well as skippering the second tier outfit throughout the 2018/19 season.
At the end of August, Moore was joined at King Power at Den Dreef Stadium by Foxes team mate Bartosz Kapustka, a Poland Under-21s international midfielder with an eye for goal.
In his seven appearances so far for Pearson’s side, Kapustka, 21, has scored thrice, as well as helping OHL secure four Proximus League wins on the bounce since mid-October.
Defender Filip Benković, on the other hand, is thriving under Brendan Rodgers at Scottish champions Celtic, who are currently atop of the Premiership on goal difference.
The Croatia Under-21s international has made a total of nine appearances for his adopted club, six in the league, two in the UEFA Europa League and one in the Scottish League Cup.
His first goal for the Bhoys, meanwhile, came in a 5-0 triumph over title rivals Hearts of Midlothian at Celtic Park in early November, scoring his side’s second of the day.
Algeria striker Islam Slimani is also spending the 2018/19 campaign away from King Power Stadium, on loan with Turkish Süper Lig side Fenerbahçe, where he’s scored three goals for Erwin Koeman's men.
Elsewhere, in Sky Bet League 1, midfielder George Thomas is impressing many for Scunthorpe United, scoring once and registering three assists for the Irons in 12 appearances.
Earlier this month, a well-taken effort enabled Scunthorpe to secure a hard-fought 3-3 draw with Oxford United, while he’s also currently in Ryan Giggs’ senior Wales squad in the UEFA Nations League.
Daniel Iversen is another player to benefit from more playing time for his loan club, playing 18 matches in goal for League 2 side Oldham Athletic and representing Denmark Under-21s.
Finally, fellow goalkeeper Max Bramley, who can also play for City’s Development Squad, as he did on Monday, has featured on 11 occasions for AFC Telford in National League North.
