Foxes Defeated By Spurs As Unbeaten Run Ends
Claude Puel made four changes to the side that drew with Fulham in midweek, as Ricardo Pereira, Jonny Evans, Demarai Gray and Vicente Iborra were all handed starts against Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
It proved to be an even affair in the first period, with Wilfred Ndidi volleying over for the Foxes and Son Heung-Min slamming a free-kick into the crowd in a largely uneventful first period.
However, out of nowhere, Tottenham went ahead on the stroke of half-time. Son shaped the ball onto his left foot before bending an unstoppable shot into the top corner from distance.
After the interval, Kasper Schmeichel had to parry Lucas Moura’s goal-bound header, while Ben Chilwell fired wide and Gray saw a shot saved by France international goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
Tottenham, aiming to retain their spot in third place, doubled their advantage with 58 minutes on the clock as Son found Dele Alli, who nodded home at the back post to score his third Premier League goal of the season.
Puel introduced Shinji Okazaki, Marc Albrighton and Rachid Ghezzal in the second half, and it was Ghezzal who had two significant opportunities late on, but his efforts on goal were held by Lloris and there would be no breakthrough for the Foxes.
Major moment
With the game set to head into the break goalless, the Foxes looked good value for their clean sheet having limited Tottenham to little or no goalscoring opportunities.
But a touch of class from Son Heung-Min handed Spurs a 1-0 advantage at a crucial time, and they built on the South-Korean’s effort after the break with a second goal through Dele Alli.
Who impressed?
Skipper Wes Morgan delivered a solid defensive performance for the Foxes against a potent Tottenham Hotspur side on Saturday night.
In the first period, he made a crucial interception to prevent Moussa Sissoko from threading the ball through to the inbound Dele Alli with the scoreline at 0-0.
After the break, Morgan stood strong once again as Spurs counter-attacked, throwing himself in the way of a Son shot from inside the box.

Leicester City remain ninth in the Premier League table after 16 fixtures – four points behind Manchester United in sixth position.
