The popular 29-year-old has been one of the Club’s most consistent performers since its return to the Premier League in 2014 and has again been in impressive form this term – his fifth as a Leicester City player.

Speaking to LCFC TV after signing his new contract, Albrighton said: “It was totally straight forward. Leicester offered me a deal and I was always going to sign it. I’ve had some good times here and hopefully I can continue to do so.

“When I first signed, I looked at the squad that was in the dressing room and the Club itself in terms of its fanbase and what sort of club it was.

“It was a family Club back then and it’s a family Club now. It’s something that suits me down to the ground. It really fit in well with me as a person and it’s the perfect fit for me.”

Few could have anticipated how valuable Marc would become to Leicester City when the Foxes signed him on a free transfer from Aston Villa in the summer of 2014. He has since been at the heart of the some of the most memorable moments in the Club’s history.

Albrighton Thrilled With New Foxes Deal

A snippet from Marc Albrighton's interview with LCFC TV following confirmation of his new deal.

In total, the 2015/16 Premier League winner has made 176 appearances for the Foxes in all competitions, scoring 13 goals.

While strikes against Club Brugge and Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League likely rank as his most famous, recent goals against champions Manchester City in both the Premier League and the EFL Cup underline the enduring value of Albrighton’s all-action displays to Claude Puel’s Foxes squad.

Marc’s consistent contributions at both ends of the pitch and incredible work-rate have made him one of the most-popular players ever to play for the Football Club and his significant contributions have continued in 2018/19.

He has found the net twice against Manchester City in league and cup, while also scoring away to AFC Bournemouth to put him one goal short of his best-ever season tally for the Foxes.

Prior to joining City, the Birmingham-born midfielder burst onto the scene with Aston Villa in 2009 and went on to make more than 100 appearances for his hometown team, as well as a loan spell with Wigan Athletic.

He arrived in Leicester when his contract expired at the start of the 2014/15 season, and with the Foxes struggling at the bottom of the table, Albrighton’s introduction as a wing-back at half time of a 2-1 win over West Ham in April 2015 helped herald a remarkable turnaround in fortunes.

In a new role in a 3-5-2 formation, Albrighton’s performances were integral to a run of form that saw the Foxes win seven and draw one of their final nine league fixtures to ensure survival.

He began the 2015/16 title-winning season in a similar vein of form – scoring in a 4-2 win over Sunderland – and was a key member of the team that went on to lift the trophy.

Albrighton has maintained his high level and was once again at his brilliant best for the Foxes in the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League, scoring twice in nine appearances en route to the quarter-finals.

The winger’s consistency and leadership have been on display ever since, adapting his game to suit numerous systems and positions under four different permanent managers, earning countless admirers both in the dressing room and in the stands.
