City's Women Unbeaten In Three Following Villa Stalemate
City followed a 4-0 success over Lewes FC with a 3-2 victory against Millwall Lionesses earlier this month, but were unable to make it a trio of successive wins in Birmingham.
On the 15-minute mark, Sophie Domingo, buoyed by a recent England call-up, laid it off for Rosie Axten to drill it low at goal and force a decent stop from Sian Rogers.
Gemma Davies’ hosts, who have lost just two of their last nine league outings, also threatened City's goal and were unfortunate not to go in ahead at the interval.
After 30 minutes, summer-signing Sophie Haywood located an unmarked Alice Hassall on the edge of the penalty area, but her side-footed effort was too tame to worry Demi Lambourne.
Following the break, an inventive header from City's Leigh Dugmore landed on the roof of the Villa net before Domingo volleyed over from 15 yards as the visitors turned the screw.
Leicester City Women
City look for a winner in Birmingham.
While Villa were a threat on the counter and occasionally capitalised on defensive errors at the back, it was Jonathan Morgan’s side who seemed likelier to win the clash in the latter stages.
In the final 20 minutes, Melissa Johnson, a second half substitute, made an instant impact with a low attempt on goal, while Domingo tested the goalkeeper with a close-range effort.
City even had the ball in the back of the net 10 minutes from time as Domingo headed past Rogers, but the assistant referee’s flag had been raised.
As a result of this draw, Leicester are sixth in the league table after 13 matches and they next host London Bees at Farley Way on Sunday 3 February (2pm GMT kick-off).
