Harry Winks is confident that Leicester City can remain on their current trajectory as they aim to pave a way back to the Premier League.

The midfielder, a summer signing from Tottenham Hotspur, has called on the Foxes to continue in the vein of form which saw Enzo Maresca’s side pick up three points against both Coventry City and Huddersfield Town earlier this month, either side of defeating Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup.

The hard-fought nature of both of those Sky Bet Championship successes, together with how the new Manager’s system has been deployed on the pitch, gives Winks growing belief that something special is building.

Winks has started all three of Enzo Maresca’s first games in charge.

Speaking exclusively to CITY, the Club’s official matchday magazine, he commented: “The style, the manner in which we’ve played and the way we’ve committed to it has probably been the most impressive part - the fact we’ve been embracing the Manager’s philosophy and the way everyone has got on board with it.

“We’ve got a really good group of players with a good mentality. The quality speaks for itself as well with the amount of players who have played in the Premier League. But we’ve also got a few who’ve experienced the Championship as well, so we’ve got a good blend.

“Of course, the three points are the most important thing. As long as we can stay in line mentally, continue with our objective without getting carried away, or getting too down if a result doesn’t go our way, then I think we can do really well.”

We’ve been preparing well this week so as long as we approach the game in the right way we know we can get the three points.

Taking time out from preparations for Saturday’s encounter with Cardiff City, the 27-year-old also offered some words on their Welsh opponents, who will no doubt be looking to end City’s 100 per cent start to the new season.

“I think it’s going to be another tough game as will every game in the Championship this season,” Leicester’s new No.8 admitted. “Cardiff are a team who are looking to achieve higher things this season and they’ll be coming to give us a difficult game.

“I think we’ll need to be patient and resilient again because they won’t be a walkover. But we’ve been preparing well this week so, as long as we approach the game in the right way, we know we can get the three points.”
