Boasting extensive Barclays Women's Super League experience, the attacker – who can operate in midfield or as a forward - made the move to Belvoir Drive following five successful years with the Seagulls.
Whelan was a prominent member of the Brighton squad that won promotion to the WSL in 2018 - the division where the club has remained since and her versatility has seen her play in many positions across midfield and the front line.
The 30-year-old’s previous experience includes spells at MK Dons, Nottingham Forest, Notts County and Everton – who she signed for in 2017 ahead of her move to Brighton – as well as with England Under-23s.
Named as captain for 2022/23, her Foxes debut came in the opening fixture of the season against Tottenham Hotspur, before her first goal for the Club was scored in the Continental Tyres League Cup victory over Blackburn Rovers at the start of October.
The No.10 featured in every WSL fixture during the 22/23 campaign, helping City achieve safety on the final day with a narrow 1-0 win over her former club.
