Okazaki ‘Will Never Forget’ City Send-Off

- Shinji Okazaki has had an ‘exciting four years’ with the Club’s fans and players
- The 33-year-old striker made his 136th and final appearance for Leicester City against Chelsea
- Okazaki leaves King Power Stadium with a Premier League winner’s medal

The Club’s supporters chanted the Japan international’s name as he made his way around the King Power Stadium pitch to say goodbye to a set of fans that will always remember his fighting spirit and determined performances.  

During his four seasons in Leicester, Okazaki scored 19 goals in 136 appearances and played his role in the Club’s 2015/16 Premier League glory and run to the UEFA Champions League Quarter-Finals the following campaign.

He played his final game for City during the goalless draw with Chelsea and took the time to emphasise the global impact the Foxes have had since they were crowned champions of England for the first time in their history.

“These are good memories,” Okazaki told LCFC TV. “I [will] never forget this day. I’m proud of the fans and [my] team-mates. I was happy to play [against Chelsea].

“When I came for the first time, every Japanese person didn’t know where Leicester was. Now, everybody knows Leicester City.

“We are champions, we won the league and we played in the Champions League. I [had] an exciting four years with the fans and my team-mates.”
