The Denmark international goalkeeper made a string of key saves in the encounter, which was settled by an early penalty from Marcus Rashford.
Schmeichel believes the Foxes grew into the game and were much improved after Manchester United took the lead.
But the City No.1 knows his side must put in better displays if they are to finish as high as possible in the Premier League this term.

“It’s very frustrating,” he said at the full-time whistle. “You can’t start the way we did and give yourselves such a mountain to climb, but we played better towards the end of the first half.
“The start killed us a little bit and there were lots of stray passes – we didn’t quite get the slick passing that everybody wanted. It’s very frustrating now.
“We’re going to keep trying and we’ll obviously finish up the league as high as we can. We’re going to go about our work and learn from today because there are a lot of things to learn.”
