Leicester’s Women Suffer Cup Defeat At Man City
After securing their first point in the FA Women’s Championship with a 3-3 draw with London Bees last time out, manager Jonathan Morgan made two changes to his starting line-up.
In came Lia Cataldo and Simran Jhamat for the Foxes in Manchester, but the visitors were forced to endure waves of early pressure at Academy Stadium.
Nonetheless, Leicester could have taken the lead through Lachante Paul, who combined with Libby Smith to work an opening, but Man City goalkeeper Karima Benameur saved well.
On the half-hour mark, the home side went ahead as Caroline Weir found the net with a close-range effort, before Pauline Bremer, Weir again and then Tessa Wullaert struck after the break.
Following defeat in their Group C opener, the Foxes are bottom, while Birmingham City are bottom to Man City following their success over Everton and Man United are yet to play.
Next up, meanwhile, City are back in FA Women’s Championship action on Sunday as Crystal Palace travel to Farley Way (2pm BST kick-off).
