Barnes Emphasises Importance Of Burnley Win
- Harvey Barnes hails Leicester City for their ‘massive’ Premier League victory over Burnley
- The Foxes recovered from an early goal from Chris Wood to win 2-1 on Filbert Way
- Barnes registered two assists in the win, setting up Jamie Vardy and Youri Tielemans
Brendan Rodgers’ outfit made it five wins from nine Premier League games in 2019/20 after coming from behind to beat the Clarets at King Power Stadium.
Barnes set up Jamie Vardy’s leveller with a fine cross, before the Academy graduate flicked Demarai Gray’s cross into the path of Youri Tielemans, who fired in the winner 14 minutes from time.
“I think that was an important game for us today,” Barnes told LCFC TV. “It wasn’t an easy one, as you saw, but to come out with the three points in the end is massive.

“I think with the atmosphere today, it was always going to be a little bit more difficult, but I think the boys did really well to just focus on the game.
“Obviously, after the game, that’s when all the emotions come out. It was a difficult occasion, the performance wasn’t 100 per cent, but we showed great character.
“I think it was massive for us. Burnley are a good side and they’re very difficult to play against. With the crowd being so good today, that really spurred us along.”
For us today to get back to winning ways, we had some good work over the international break and we’re looking forward to a good period now. Hopefully we can continue this winning run.

Inflicting a first away defeat upon Burnley this term, Barnes citied City’s preparations over the international break as a factor in helping them beat Sean Dyche’s well-organised side.
The 21-year-old added: “As we spoke about in there (the changing room), that’s their first loss away from home, so it shows that they’re a tough side.
