Leicester City were beaten 3-1 by the Premier League champions as goals from Riyad Mahrez, İlkay Gündoğan and Gabriel Jesus saw the home side recover from Jamie Vardy's opener.
Speaking live on LCFC Radio, during over six hours of matchday coverage, which is available for free, Elliott, Taggart and Foulger picked out some of the moments which caught their eye...
Man City play like champions
Ederson
Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson was rarely tested at Etihad Stadium.
Gerry Taggart said: “Manchester City were at their imperious best. They played like champions. Even when they went 1-0 behind to a classic Jamie Vardy counter-attacking goal, they never really broke their stride. They didn’t panic. Especially in the first half, Manchester City took control and we saw them at their very best.”
Late energy from Leicester
Marc Albrighton
The introduction of Marc Albrighton was one of three changes intended to inject more energy for Leicester.
Matt Elliott said: “They tried their best to change it, but they couldn’t make an impression on the game. There was more energy from Leicester in the latter stages, but it was too little, too late. You run the risk of Manchester City playing through you, but they’d wrapped the game up. It was impressive from Manchester City, but many teams will lose to them this year.”
A fabulous season
Brendan Rodgers
Brendan Rodgers acknowledges the Blue Army at full-time in Manchester.
Nev Foulger said: “For me, the target for Leicester City is top four. If they finish there, they will have had an absolutely fabulous season. Their position in the top four at the moment is strong. They’ve lost three games all season. It’s Liverpool next up, but it’s at King Power Stadium, the atmosphere will be terrific and I think we’ll see Leicester play a lot better.”
Lessons to learn
Youri Tielemans
Youngsters like Belgium international Youri Tielemans will learn from the experience, says Gerry Taggart.
Gerry Taggart said: “They came up against the defending champions at their best. They had some quality on show and some of it was world-class. The up-and-coming stars in Leicester City’s squad will remember this game. Hopefully that will make them improve as individuals and as a team. Hats off to Manchester City, they were a class act.”
Time to crack on
Harvey Barnes
Leicester did have opportunities to get back into the game on Saturday.
Matt Elliott said: “Leicester City need to crack on now and remind themselves about what they’re good at and test themselves against Liverpool. I don’t see fatigue being an issue for Liverpool, you’ve got to be ready for them at their best. They’ve sustained their level of results over a huge length of time, so it’s a game everyone’s looking forward to.”
Development continues
James Maddison
The youthful nature of Leicester's squad bodes well for future seasons.
Nev Foulger said: “As you go through your career, players like James Maddison and Youri Tielemans will get better experience. Tonight, they will have seen a world-class midfielder at his best in Kevin De Bruyne. People like Maddison and Tielemans will take that on board. Leicester are a young side that are developing, but to be where they are is fantastic.”
