Rodgers: I Trust What We Can Bring
- Brendan Rodgers confirms he will make changes to Leicester City’s starting XI for the clash with West Ham United
- The Foxes take on Manuel Pellegrini’s outfit on Saturday in the Premier League (5:30pm kick-off)
- Live coverage of the game will be available on LCFC Radio from 2:30pm
The Foxes next head to London Stadium and will play for the second time in less than 48 hours following their Boxing Day loss to Liverpool at King Power Stadium.
The Northern Irishman knows he will have to field a different side that started that fixture, but has confidence in the players that will line up against the Hammers.
“Yes, just purely for the welfare of the players,” said Rodgers when asked whether he will make changes to his outfit.
“It’s when you see we put so much into tonight physically and we have a massive January coming up for us as a squad and as a team.

The Northern Irishman says he will make changes to his side for the clash with West Ham.
“My fear is that we would be risking too many guys getting injured if we’re playing at 5:30pm on Saturday.
“Normally, in a day where your body is recovering, I’m going to need to make those changes.”
Rodgers says he can draw on past experiences of playing two Premier League fixtures in such a short space of time, having done so as Swansea City manager at the turn of the decade.
“I think we’ll make a number of changes but there are also going to be guys that will want to play in every game,” he continued. “They will want to play in every single game, but of course, physically and mentally, it’s hard to do that, especially to play at the level that we want to.
I trust in the squad, I trust in what we can bring to the game, even if I have to make the changes.

“My own experience that I’ve had playing so close like this here, I go back to 2011 and it was, when I was at Swansea. We played Tottenham on a Saturday and then we were playing on the Monday against Aston Villa.
“Ironically, Aston Villa had a fantastic result on the Saturday. They beat Chelsea away and went with virtually the same team on the Monday and suffered through fatigue and energy. We were able to make eight changes for that game and won the game.
“I’m not saying that’s going to happen, but it gave us the opportunity because the game was fresh and had energy. Also, I trust in the squad, I trust in what we can bring to the game, even if I have to make the changes.”
