The Foxes suffered a 1-0 defeat at Carrow Road after Nigeria international Kelechi Iheanacho had a goal ruled out by VAR for handball and Jamal Lewis fired home a well-taken half-volley to secure the points for Daniel Farke’s men.
Iheanacho’s disallowed strike was a major talking point during the trio’s post-match discussion, while the panel also credited Norwich for the way they stuck to their game plan in Norfolk.
Iheanacho’s disallowed goal
VAR
Kelechi Iheanacho's goal is ruled out for handball by VAR.
Iwan Roberts said: “The game changed with the disallowed goal. He (Kelechi Iheanacho) has gained an advantage by the ball hitting his hand and he still had a lot to do. It was a terrific finish and a fantastic goal. It was very harsh to be disallowed. Had Leicester scored first, I would have firmly believed they’d have gone on to win the game because Norwich haven’t come back in a game when they’ve gone behind.”
The game-changing moment
Kelechi Iheanacho
Kelechi Iheanacho wheels away in celebration, only for his goal to be ruled out by VAR.
Gerry Taggart said: “Full credit to Norwich. They gave Leicester a similar type of game as the one at King Power Stadium. I’m not saying they were well worth the win, but I think definitely, the disallowed Kelechi Iheanacho goal took the stuffing out of Leicester. That forced Leicester into a game of football that Norwich were comfortable with.”
A quality goal
Leicester City
Norwich City celebrate their winning goal against Leicester City.
Matt Elliott said: “They paid the price for not capitalising on the decent situations that they had in the first half. We talked about it maybe coming back to bite them and that proved to be a mistake, whether that was a mistake, a cross that someone got on the end of or a piece of rare quality. What a strike it was [from Jamal Lewis], but you can’t expect Premier League players not to produce quality at some stage.”
Leicester’s massive blow
Ayoze Pérez
Ayoze Pérez had a strike cleared off the line in the first half.
Iwan Roberts said: “It’s a massive win for Norwich. It’s a lifeline for them and they need to go and build on that now. From a Leicester point of view, it’s a massive blow. I still think they will finish in the top four. They had plenty of the ball, plenty of possession, but they found it hard to break that resilient Norwich defence down. They were very organised and disciplined in their defence.”
Rediscover City’s edge
James Maddison
James Maddison gets away from Norwich City midfielder Alexander Tettey.
Matt Elliott said: “Leicester need to bring that edge back, that’s the best way I can describe it. There are little bits and pieces that need improving. Norwich must have been surprised about how they were able to go about their work in the game. If you work hard and you get your shape, then you can nullify teams.”
A draw would have been fair
Çağlar Söyüncü
Çağlar Söyüncü goes shoulder to shoulder with Teemu Pukki.
Gerry Taggart said “It’s very unlucky from Kelechi Iheanacho. I’m not going to go into the rules of VAR. I don’t think any team deserved to win that game. I think a draw would have been a fair result at the end of it, but I think the game swung on the disallowed goal. I’m glad the two Northern Irish guys did well on the pitch, but I didn’t want Jamal Lewis to do that well! At the end of it all, Leicester were beaten by a once in a lifetime strike.”
