Hard Work Has Yielded Goals, Says Vardy
- Jamie Vardy was thrilled to come off the bench and score twice for Leicester City against Aston Villa
- The Foxes won 4-0, with Harvey Barnes also netting a double at King Power Stadium
- Vardy says City must now deliver week in, week out until the conclusion of the 2019/20 season
The City No.9 came off the bench to bag a brace as he took his Premier League tally to 19 for the season, while he has now scored 99 top-flight goals for the Foxes.
On target twice in a 4-0 success, Vardy was thrilled with the confidence Brendan Rodgers’ men showed as they restored their five-point gap to Chelsea in fourth place.
“When you come off the bench, you always want to try and make as good an impact as possible,” Vardy told LCFC TV. “Luckily tonight, my first two shots have gone in, so I’m over the moon with it.

“Obviously, I’ve gone through a little bit of a patch with not scoring and I’ve been making sure that I’ve been trying to work as hard as possible on the training field to try and get back to scoring ways.
“We’ve always been confident. We just know, we had a chat together, we’ve not been quite up to the standards of what we’ve set earlier in the season.
“I think first and foremost, tonight was about putting a performance in, and when we put a performance in like that, we know that we’ve got every chance of winning.”
Vardy says City’s success against the Villans is a massive one, but knows his side must deliver in every game until the end of the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.
We’ve got to take each game as they come, but we’ll be looking forward to Saturday, and hopefully, it’ll be another performance like tonight and picking the three points up.

“It’s down to us to get back on that training field and make sure that we’re putting them in every week until the end of the season now,” Vardy continued. “We will enjoy tonight’s result and then get back to work ready for Saturday.
“It’s massive, but the whole season is. We set targets at the start of the season and at the minute, we’re sat really nice.
“Like I say, we’ve got to take each game as they come, but we’ll be looking forward to Saturday, and hopefully, it’ll be another performance like tonight and picking the three points up.”
