An Academy graduate at the Club who was a ball boy when City faced Swindon Town in the 1993 First Division Play-Off Final at Wembley, Heskey eventually scored 33 goals in the top-flight for Leicester.
The locally-born striker quickly became a popular figure at Filbert Street and, following promotion in 1996, it wasn't long before he was a household name, earning an England call-up in 1999.
His 33-goal tally leaves him joint-third in the Club's all-time top Premier League goalscorer charts, five goals better off than Foxes team-mate Tony Cottee, on 27 strikes for Leicester.
In the latest part of our series honouring our top-10 Premier League goalscorers, let's reflect on some memorable Heskey efforts...

Saturday 28 September, 1996
A tense clash with Leeds came City's way in late September 1996 following an immensely impressive 2-1 at Tottenham Hotspur a week earlier. On the hour-mark, Neil Lennon charged at the Whites' defence, sending a pass across goal for Heskey to register his third goal of his maiden campaign in the Premier League.
Leicester City 1 Wimbledon 0
Filbert Street
Saturday 18 January, 1997
After five games without a victory over the festive period, and despite City's encouraging run in the League Cup, Martin O'Neill's men needed three points to get back on track in the Premier League. It came in fortuitous circumstances, too, as Garry Parker's cross ricocheted into Wimbledon's net off Heskey's shoulder in the 73rd minute, although maybe the ex-Foxes striker will claim he meant it.
Blackburn Rovers 2 Leicester City 4
Ewood Park
Sunday 11 May, 1997
The final game of Leicester's 1996/97 campaign, which included a League Cup triumph over Middlesbrough, took them to Blackburn. A brace from Heskey, including a simply brilliant run and finish for his second, secured O'Neill's side a ninth-placed finish at the end of their maiden season back in English football's top flight.
Leicester City 3 Tottenham Hotspur 0
Filbert Street
Saturday 13 September, 1997
Two opening wins - over Aston Villa and Liverpool - got Leicester off to a flier in 1997/98, but that form was curtailed by three games without a win in the early weeks of the season. O'Neill's men got back to winning ways, however, with a fine three-goal success over Spurs, capped off by a typically powerful effort from Heskey with 13 minutes to play.
Leicester City 2 West Ham United 1
Filbert Street
Monday 27 October, 1997
City continued to punch above their weight during their second successive Premier League season and they were ahead against the Hammers after just 16 minutes when Steve Guppy lofted the ball over the away side's defensive line to locate Heskey, who skipped past goalkeeper Craig Forrest and finished well. A later Ian Marshall effort, meanwhile, sealed the win.
Leicester City 2 Chelsea 0
Filbert Street
Saturday 21 February, 1998
Leicester's reputation for being a considerable problem for the so-called 'bigger' sides in the Premier League continued in earnest in February 1998, with the help of a double from Heskey himself. His first was a smart effort, chesting a high ball down before volleying it home. He then linked up with Guppy once more to make sure in the latter moments.
Derby County 0 Leicester City 4
Pride Park
Sunday 26 April, 1998
One of the most memorable days of O'Neill's entire tenure as City manager saw the Northern Irishman's side race into a four-goal lead after just 15 minutes at Derby. All of Leicester's goals - including a brace from Heskey and other efforts from Marshall and Muzzy Izzet - were headers, as the Foxes sealed a big win over their East Midlands counterparts.
Manchester United 2 Leicester City 2
Old Trafford
Saturday 15 August, 1998
While Heskey undoubtedly scored better goals in Leicester's colours, few were celebrated as wildly as his seventh-minute opener at Manchester United on the first day of the 1998/99 season. Tony Cottee put the Foxes two goals ahead as well later on, but late efforts from Teddy Sheringham and David Beckham denied City all three points at Old Trafford.
Leicester City 1 Arsenal 1
Filbert Street
Saturday 12 September, 1998
With the boos of Arsenal fans still ringing in his ears, as the away contingent accused him of feigning an injury earlier on, Heskey decided to take a more direct approach in the 28th minute of a pulsating clash with the Gunners. At the end of his intrepid run came a neat, low finish past David Seaman. Stephen Hughes, though, levelled for Arsenal in the last minute.
Leicester City 5 Sunderland 2
Filbert Street
Sunday 5 March, 2000
In a game City fans often view as a case of 'what could have been', Heskey linked up with new signing Stan Collymore to devastating effect in March 2000. In truth, Heskey's tidy finish was overshadowed by Collymore's stunning hat-trick that day. Heskey's departure to Liverpool and a long-term injury for Collymore left the Blue Army always wondering what success could have been achieved otherwise.
