Thailand Smiles With You: Khun Top Pledges Support Alongside Thai Prime Minister
Throughout the 2020/21 season, Leicester City’s players' shirts, produced by adidas, will promote the Thailand Smiles With You campaign during all 38 of the Club’s Premier League fixtures.
The initiative – in collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand – reintroduces one of the world’s most beloved tourist destinations and shows solidarity with the people of a country which means so much to our Foxes family after 10 years of close partnership under King Power’s ownership.
It is hoped the country will thrive under the unique spotlight of Thailand Smiles With You as the world is reminded of its magical culture and heritage by harnessing the Club’s considerable global reach.
On Thursday, at Aksra Theatre King Power in Bangkok, the unbreakable bond which exists between Leicester City and its Thai community was evident once more as Prime Minister Chan-o-cha provided backing to a campaign designed to help the country stride into the future, post-COVID-19.
Harnessing the power of Thailand’s acclaimed personality – typified by the kindness of spirit and generosity which all Foxes supporters are now familiar with – will be key to that strategy.
The Club’s commitment to its community, whether at home or abroad, remains a central pillar of Leicester City’s long-term strategy as the world re-emerges from a crisis which has touched so many.
Throughout 2020, Leicester City has donated to a series of causes, including University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust, Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust and Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland.
The 2020 Gift Of A Wish campaign, on the other hand, continues to build upon the precious legacy bestowed upon the Club by our beloved late Chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.
Nearly 200 applications from more modest causes across Leicestershire were received for bespoke funding and volunteer allocation, which led to Club staff assisting the region’s most vulnerable people during COVID-19.
Our supporters remain vital to this ambition and, as it stands currently, the Foxes family have donated over £180,000 in ticket rebates for the refurbishment of critical facilities at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
That family now includes the people of Thailand – and the Club is absolutely determined to stand shoulder to shoulder with Khun Top’s homeland and be a champion for its future growth.
