Development Squad Place Second In PL2 As Games Programme Concludes
- Leicester City’s Development Squad finish second in Premier League 2 Division 1
- The Club’s Academy side placed fifth in the U18 Premier League South table
- Both divisions were decided on a points per game system
The Club’s Development Squad and Under-18s outfits saw the 2019/20 season curtailed in May due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and both sides have now had their final position confirmed.
The Development Squad’s brilliant campaign featured a run of eight-straight victories across all competitions across October, November and December, including wins at Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
Their last outing, on Monday 2 March, resulted in a 3-1 triumph at Southampton and confirmed their second-place finish behind champions Chelsea.

The Club’s Under-18s side, meanwhile will place fifth in the U18 Premier League South table based on the same points per game method.
The young Foxes enjoyed a fine month of February, beating Brighton & Hove Albion, Arsenal and Swansea City – scoring 13 goals in three games – before the final fixture they contested in 2019/20 ended in a narrow 3-2 defeat at West Ham United.

Next season will see some changes to the structure of PL2 Division 1 and 2. Three new Category 1 academies – Burnley, Crystal Palace and Leeds United – will enter Division 2 for the next season, meaning Division 1 will comprise 13 teams and Division 2 will comprise 14 teams.
