Keep Working Hard, Says Morgan
- Jonathan Morgan reflects on LCFC Women's 3-0 victory over London Bees at Farley Way Stadium
- The Foxes reached the summit of the FA Women's Championship for the first-ever time
- Morgan has called for City's players to remain humble and put in the work to stay at the top
- He also looks ahead to a double-header of clashes with Birmingham City and Charlton Athletic
A 3-0 success over London Bees on Sunday, courtesy of goals from Natasha Flint, Paige Bailey-Gayle and Millie Farrow, sent the Foxes to the summit for the first time in their history.
While City's players are right to be proud of the achievement, Morgan also called on the squad to remain grounded and do everything they can to stay there in future.
"I’m thrilled with that," he told LCFC TV at full-time. "I thought it was a very good performance from us and it’s nice to get a win after the international break, two weeks with no game.
"I thought the girls were fantastic today. They applied everything we’ve worked on in training and, in all honesty, I think we could have had a few more goals if we were more clinical.
"It’s four wins on the bounce now, which is brilliant. It’s fully deserved with the way we’ve been playing and we’ve only been looking better and better each week.
This is the start of our third year in the Championship and this is the very time we’ve actually reached the summit. We obviously don’t want to let that go

"All we can keep doing now is keep focusing on our next game, our next challenge. We’ll keep our feet on the ground, stay humble, and make sure that we put effort in training."
Reflecting on LCFC Women's standing at the top of the table, Morgan admitted it's a fitting reward for the Foxes, who are currently on a four-game winning run in all competitions.
"This is the start of our third year in the Championship and this is the very first time we’ve actually reached the summit," he added. "We obviously don’t want to let that go.
"It’s a very nice feeling for the girls. We were just saying in our huddle afterwards that it means nothing at this point of the season, so we have to keep working hard.
"But it’s nice to see ourselves up there at the top."
Leicester travel to Damson Park on Wednesday for their final group stage fixture in the Continental Tyres League Cup (2pm kick-off), before heading to Charlton in the league on Sunday (2pm kick-off).
Should City emerge from Group E, it would also be the first time that City have reached the knockout phase, but Morgan admits the Foxes' top priority in 2020/21 is the Championship.
"It’s an exciting time," he continued. "We’ll probably look to rest a few for the Birmingham game, with the squad depth that we have.
"It’s a hard one because we know we can go through in the Conti Cup for the first time as well, so we’re going to take that one very seriously.
"Our eyes are obviously on the league and Charlton is a bigger game for us because we want to pick up another three points there. We’re delighted we’ve got a chance in both competitions."
