Leicester City in the Community Primary Stars coaches has spent the last week delivering sessions to primary schools across Leicestershire who have been excited for the FA Cup final.
Pupils at Alderman Richard Hallam, Sparkenhoe Community and St John The Baptist C Of E Primary School have all succumbed to FA Cup excitement as Leicester City contest in their first final in 52 years.
Sessions have included workshops learning about the history of the FA Cup, children have made their own versions of the oldest club competition out of tin foil and have taken part in football activities.
Leicester City mascot Filbert Fox also made one of his first community appearances of the year, by surprising children at ARH Primary School.
Leicester City in the Community Primary Stars Coach, Ryan Bromyard spoke about how much this final means to the community.
"We have been celebrating Leicester City reaching the FA Cup final at our Premier League Primary Stars partner schools,” he said.
“For the children here and for Leicester itself, because it has been a crazy year, it is great for the city, it is great for the schools.
“The children’s reactions to their hometown being in a cup final – it is something for them to celebrate and it is something for them to get behind and something for them to look forward to as well.”
Year 4 ARH Primary School student, Poppy, discussed what they did during the day.
“We were making FA Cup final trophies with foil and card,” she said.
“We were also taking photos of Filbert Fox and playing loads of football games. My family and I are really excited to just see us win!”
Kabir, another Year 4 pupil at ARH Primary School also reflected on the day.
“I learned that inside the FA Cup is golden, but on the outside it is silver,” he said.
“It was good to see Filbert Fox again as I haven’t seen him in a long time! I will be watching the game with my family.”
Poppy predicts a close encounter, with a 2-1 score line to the Foxes. Meanwhile, Kabir reckons goals will be aplenty with Leicester scoring six in a 6-3 win!
