The former Manchester United striker became the first new face to arrive at Belvoir Drive this summer, ahead of City’s maiden FA Women’s Super League campaign.

Speaking to LCFC TV for the first time, the former England youth international explained why she was no doubt that Leicester is the right place to be.

“I'm absolutely delighted,” Sigsworth commented. “It’s a club with a massive ambition, they did extremely well in the Championship and I'm really excited and looking forward to being a part of this journey now.

Hopefully I can bring a clinical edge to the team, score some goals, get on the scoresheet and just help the team succeed.

“I spoke with the manager [Jonathan Morgan] quite a bit before coming and the ambitions, the drive, the way this club wants to be, it's everything that I want to be a part of.”

The 26-year-old arrives with significant pedigree having twice top scored in the second tier of women’s football, for Doncaster Rovers Belles in 2017/18 and for United the following season – finishing as champions on both occasions.

She then helped the newly promoted Red Devils to two consecutive fourth-place finishes in the top-flight, featuring in 14 league matches during both seasons.

“I feel like I could bring a little bit of experience,” she continued. “I played in the top league last season and I'm very competitive. I want to succeed. I want to do well and hopefully I can bring that to the team.

“Hopefully I can bring a clinical edge to the team, score some goals, get on the scoresheet and just help the team succeed.

Sigsworth has a career record of 48 goals in 131 games for Doncaster Rovers Belles and Manchester United.

“I think it's going to be quite an easy group to integrate into. I know quite a few of the girls from back when we played at the [Doncaster Rovers] Belles. I know of some of the girls and yes, I think it's going to be a nice environment.”

The forward was impressed with what she saw from the Foxes last season as they claimed the FA Women’s Championship title for the first time in the Club’s history, in their inaugural campaign as a professional outfit.

Sigsworth added: “I've seen some of the games and the way they played, just everything about the way they performed, I just wanted to be a part of that. And I think if we bring this into the season, I think we can do well in the Super League.

“I think we've got realistic goals, you know, it's always quite a big jump from the Championship into the WSL. So we have to be realistic about our goals.

“But I think with the way they performed and how they did in the Championship, I think we can be quite successful in the league, so I'm really looking forward to it.”
