LCFC Women took another step towards the new Barclays FA Women’s Super League season with a pre-season friendly exercise against Birmingham City Women on Wednesday afternoon.
Leicester faced their WSL rivals in a behind-closed-doors encounter at Belvoir Drive, with enhanced fitness and sharpness on the agenda for the newly promoted Foxes.
The two sides faced off in last season’s Continental Tyres League Cup Group Stage, with the Foxes winning on penalties to progress into the knockout stages of the competition.
They will meet twice in the league for the first time this term, with the Foxes’ home match scheduled for Sunday 19 December, 2021, ahead of the Blues welcoming Leicester for the reverse fixture on Sunday 6 February, 2022.
It was the team’s fourth run-out of the pre-season calendar, following on from matches with Liverpool Women, Chelsea Women and Sheffield United Women, as the countdown to the 2021/22 campaign continues.
LCFC Women’s first-ever top-flight season begins away to Aston Villa on Saturday 4 September, 12:30pm kick-off BST.
