Ward, 28, started against Poland at Stadion Miejski in Wroclaw as their 2022 UEFA Nations League Group A4 got underway.
The Leicester City shot-stopper played the opening 45 minutes, saving superbly midway through the first half to deny Robert Lewandowski, before being replaced by Wayne Hennesey.
After the interval, Jonny Williams broke the deadlock for the Welsh, however strikes from Jakub Kaminski and Karol Swiderski turned the game on its head as Poland emerged victorious.
