I Want To Get Into Dangerous Positions, Says Dewsbury-Hall

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall believes that Leicester City have already learned so much about their new brand of football after netting the only goal in Saturday's 1-0 pre-season win over Northampton Town.

City continued their pre-season preparations when they beat Northampton, who were promoted to Sky Bet League 1 for the upcoming campaign, at Sixfields Stadium.

Dewsbury-Hall headed home the only goal in the first half, when he connected with a clipped ball into the box by Timothy Castagne, after conversations with new manager Enzo Maresca which gave him more freedom in the final third.

“I don’t score many with my head,” the goalscorer opened with. “But we’ve been doing a lot of finishing in training and the Manager has been telling me to get into the box, and get on the end of the crosses. I’m pleased that today’s hit the back of the net.

“We’ve not even been working with [Maresca] for two weeks and we already feel like we’ve learned so much. You’ll see that he lives and breathes the game, and we’re learning a completely different style of play which none of us have been used to, so it’s going to take time.

“But the more we work on it, the better it will become, and you’ll see in the coming weeks that we work very well together.”

Looking to improve and move on from last season’s disappointing conclusion, the midfielder is hoping to put things right, and build a story that the Foxes’ fanbase are proud of.

“Last year wasn’t good enough,” Dewsbury-Hall stated. “But we’ve got a chance now to put things right, and that’s the only focus we’ve got this season. The mentality has got to switch, and we’ll be looking at winning every week. I feel like the Manager is going to instil that winning confidence into us.”

The 24-year-old is keeping individual targets close to his chest, but confirms the team’s efforts will be focused on producing positive performances that lead to a season finale worth celebrating.

'We're Really Enjoying It' - Coady & KDH's Verdict

Conor Coady and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall speak post-match after Leicester City's 1-0 friendly success at Northampton Town.

He added: “I’ve got my own personal goals of what I want to do this season, which I’ll be keeping to myself for the time being! But I want to get into dangerous positions, and I feel like I’ll be in those positions quite a lot this season.

“We’re a different team in the Championship compared to being in the Premier League, so a lot of teams will want to sit deep where we have to be patient, but when we get into those positions is when we have to be clinical.

“I want the fans to be coming to games week in and week out, and going home celebrating three points. The away fans are class, they were all last season and when the King Power Stadium is rocking, it’s a tough place to come to and hopefully we’ll have some good Saturdays there and will be celebrating together at the end of the season.”
