The Barclays Women’s Super League clash, which will be live on Sky Sports, will see the Foxes support the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and commemorate the sacrifices of servicemen and women in conflicts past and present.
Willie Kirk and Jonas Eidevall will lay poppy wreaths in front of their respective dugouts prior to observing a period of silence upon the sounding of The Last Post.
A large poppy tifo will be displayed in the centre circle, while City’s players will warm-up in Royal British Legion (RBL) t-shirts before adorning poppies on their official match shirts.
Those shirts will later will be auctioned via MatchWornShirt to raise funds for the Royal British Legion. Last season’s MatchWornShirt Poppy Appeal campaign was a spectacular success, raising more than £900,000 for RBL.
The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal takes place from Thursday 26 October until Remembrance Sunday on 12 November. Every year the RBL leads the nation in Remembrance across the UK to honour the contribution of our Armed Forces community, past and present.
Since it was first worn as an act of Remembrance just over 100 years ago, the red poppy has become an enduring symbol of support for our Armed Forces. Remembrance unites people of all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds.
