City got their 2024/25 Barclays Women's Super League campaign up and running with a well-earned point on the road against Liverpool; Jutta Rantala scoring a second-half goal at Totally Wicked Stadium.

A tough test against a side that finished fourth last season, new Manager Miquel was pleased with what she saw from her Foxes on Merseyside, believing that the draw gives them a platform to build on.

Amandine Miquel's first WSL match ended in a draw.

"I think it was a good game," she said. "We struggled to get on the ball too much at the start of the game, and it took us some time to get into it, just before half-time. In the second half, we grew into it even more.

"We're feeling that it's going to be a good season for us. We've made some good signings in good positions. We've got a full squad with two players in each position and everyone is ready to fight and play when needed.

"We have some young players as well but over time they will grow and progress and continue to help the team, and I'm sure we'll get better as the games go by."

Jutta Rantala's goal earned the Foxes a point.

With an unfortunate offside ruling denying Leicester all three points on a wet Sunday afternoon, the French Manager looked at the positives of the game, as she now awaits her first King Power Stadium outing when heavyweights Arsenal make the trip next Sunday (2pm BST kick-off).

"The positive from today is that we come from behind to get a point," Miquel continued. "It was annoying to concede just before the break but we did well to come back in the second half and score.

"At the end, we thought we could've won it with Ruby's [Mace] goal, but nonetheless it's a good game and I'm really pleased and proud with the team's reaction to get something today."
