Miquel: We Didn't Have The Required Intensity

Following two positive performances in the Barclays Women's Super League this season, it was a tough day at the office for the Foxes who couldn't get into gear on Filbert Way; the visitors leaving with the points.

Admitting that things didn't quite click for her team, the Manager was keen to look at the long-term project at the Club in her post-match interview, stating that it may take time for her philosophy to start reaping the required rewards.

"I think we made the game hard for ourselves," said Miquel. "We lacked intensity and rhythm. I think we could've done better. We will keep working on the process like I've said before.

"We weren't good enough throughout the whole game to get the result we wanted.

"We have to focus on ourselves, and what we showed and tried to put on the pitch wasn't good enough. We need to individually work harder, go back to training and make sure we put in a better performance next weekend.

"It's the third game, so I don't think we need to worry about building the players back up again. It's early on in the season, and of course, we would've liked points, but we need to focus on the performances and correct what went wrong today."

Providing the opportunity for newly-promoted Palace to claim their first WSL win, Miquel understands there is a long way to go this season, and that better times will be ahead, acknowledging that the team must re-discover their form from pre-season to turn things around.

We need to focus on the performances and correct what went wrong today.

"Every game in this league is hard," the Manager continued. "There's no opponent which is easy to play against. If we want to do better, we need to focus on ourselves and doing the right things, because today we weren't doing enough.

"There's nothing to change, everything we're doing is good. It's just taking time, and we need to continue working hard and getting the game plan mastered a bit more.

"The players know what they need to do, and we know we need to add intensity, and remember everything we've done in pre-season and in the first few games of the season.

"Today was under what we're expected so we need to go back to training and come back on the pitch next Sunday with a better performance."
