Nelson, Cannon & Souttar Among Loanees To Feature

Seven Foxes featured across the weekend’s English Football League action involving Leicester City loanees.

Tom Cannon lined up in attack for Stoke City during their 1-1 draw with Norwich City at bet365 Stadium at the weekend, moving the Potters further away from the Sky Bet Championship's bottom three.

The Republic of Ireland international has made six league appearances since his loan move, and will be hoping to add to his four-goal tally against Bristol City tonight (7:45pm kick-off).

Ben Nelson featured throughout Oxford United’s 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion, which included a stoppage-time equaliser for the home side at Kassam Stadium.

A fourth league appearance for the defender, next up the Yellows host fellow promoted side Derby County tonight (Tuesday), with the teams only separated by goal difference inside the top half of the table.  

Harry Souttar was involved in Sheffield United’s 2-0 defeat to Leeds United on Friday night. The Australian centre-back played 90 minutes at Elland Road as the Blades suffered their first league defeat of the season.

The 25-year-old could be in action again in midweek when Chris Wilder’s men, currently fourth in the second tier, travel to Middlesbrough on Wednesday (8pm kick-off).

The Blades fell to a first defeat of the Championship campaign at Elland Road.

There was another Sky Bet League 1 start for Silko Thomas as Wigan Athletic fell to a 2-0 defeat at Cambridge United on Saturday, with the midfielder playing throughout a first defeat in eight at Abbey Stadium.

Mansfield Town are the visitors to Brick Community Stadium this evening (7:45pm kick-off), with the Latics sitting 17th in the table prior to kick-off, on 13 points from 11 games.

Brandon Cover featured in Port Vale’s 3-1 victory over Fleetwood Town at Vale Park on Saturday as the Sky Bet League 2 side moved to the division’s summit. A trip to Harrogate Town’s Exercise Stadium awaits on Tuesday (7:45pm kick-off) when the full-back could make his 10th appearance for Vale.

Chris Popov came off the bench in the 82nd minute of AFC Barrow’s 1-0 reverse at Accrington Stanley at the weekend. Despite defeat, the Bluebirds remain in the play-off positions ahead of hosting Notts County this evening (7:45pm kick-off).

Brad Young played his third consecutive game between the sticks for Hartlepool United in the Vanarama National League as the Pools drew 1-1 with Maidenhead United at York Road on Saturday. The ‘keeper’s next outing could come on Wednesday, against Altrincham at Moss Lane (7:45pm kick-off).

Amani Richards was an unused substitute as Exeter City defeated Shrewsbury Town 2-0 on Thursday to remain in the League 1 play-off picture. The young forward has the chance to be involved on Tuesday, when the Grecians host Reading at St. James’ Park (7:45pm kick-off).

In Scotland, Sammy Braybrooke remained on the bench during Dundee’s 1-0 victory at Motherwell on Saturday, moving into the Premiership top six as a result. St. Johnstone await this weekend, at Dens Park (3pm kick-off).
