- Rukhsana Hussain named Leicester City’s No Room For Racism Icon
- She leads Leicester City in the Community’s Active Women programme
- The project encourages women from ethnically diverse backgrounds to become more active

Rukhsana – who works for Leicester City in the Community – has been chosen for her inspirational work on the Active Women project in the St Matthews and Highfields areas of the city.

All top-flight matches from 19-27 October are dedicated to No Room For Racism, with this period of activity falling within Black History Month.

The campaign is an opportunity to pay homage to the contribution of Black, Asian and minority ethnic people working in the game and to celebrate the strength and heritage of diversity on and off the pitch across the Premier League. As such, the league has brought all 20 clubs together to nominate a No Room For Racism Icon - somebody who is inspirational to the club and community.

Active Women is a female only project in the Wycliffe Ward of Leicester, which encourages women from ethnically diverse backgrounds to become more active by offering a variety of sessions including social and physical activities.

Rukhsana has worked with almost 1,000 participants since the launch of the project in 2022, with the scheme aiming to boost mental, physical and emotional wellbeing, while having a more active female population in this area.

The programme also increases access to more activities in different communities, as well as helping to reduce obesity and social isolation, and develop employability skills.

The Club’s charitable arm work alongside Wesley Hall, St Matthews Big Local, Highfields Centre, Jamila’s Legacy CIC, Active Together, Active Leicester and Women4Change to deliver the programme.
