U21s Bow Out Of EFL Trophy

A 1-0 loss for the Leicester City Development Squad at the hands of Notts County confirmed their elimination from the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Tuesday night.

On matchday three of the competition, a first half goal from Cedwyn Scott sealed the young Foxes fate at Meadow Lane, as they finished bottom of Southern Group F.

After defeats to Burton Albion and Northampton Town, a tall task awaited City against Sky Bet League 2 opposition in Nottingham, knowing that a considerable win was the only route to progress into the knockout stages.

Midfield duo Will Alves and Michael Golding were named in the Leicester starting line-up, with the latter, who signed a permanent deal from Chelsea last summer, getting just under an hour of action.

Under the lights, it took half-an-hour for the deadlock to be broken when County took the lead through Scott, after being assisted by Joshua Martin, ensuring a lead for the hosts at the break.

Against an EFL side who went into the fixture six games unbeaten, it was always going to be a tough ask for City's Development Squad, who put in a valiant effort but couldn't overturn a goal deficit in the second half, falling to a slim loss.

Currently second in Group B with four points from three games, their fixture against the Tigers is the first of the second leg games against each of their competitors as they aim for this year's knockout stages.
