Jakupovic Happy With Foxes Bow
- Eldin Jakupović reflects on his first outing in a Leicester City shirt
- The 32-year-old stopper kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win at Luton Town on Wednesday
- After joining from Hull City this month, Jakupović says he has settled well
- City face MK Dons and Wolverhampton Wanderers over two days this weekend
The Bosnian-born Swiss stopper was limited to occasional interventions on his first appearance for the Foxes since completing his transfer from Sky Bet Championship side Hull City earlier this month.
Riyad Mahrez’s 83rd minute strike ultimately sealed matters in a match which carried more fitness benefit than spectacle but, for Jakupović, it was nonetheless pleasing to sample life in a City shirt.
“They told me yesterday I was going to have 90 minutes,” he told LCFC TV.
“I was happy and excited. I haven’t had, until now, a lot of work to do. But it’s always nice to play the first game and have a clean sheet. It’s always nice to start like this.
We have four more friendly games until the first big game away. We are going to have our chances, everybody will be able to show what he can do.

“[Luton] played nice football to be fair. In the last 10-15 minutes they made more pressure than in the first half but we did well with a lot of different players.
"For me it was important just to be a part of the team to get to know how they are thinking.”
The 32-year-old says he has settled well into Craig Shakespeare’s squad and tipped his hat to his new team-mates for their warm welcome.
“It’s been very good, it was a little bit busy over the last few days. I came from Portugal back to the UK, from there to Hong Kong, and then straight back again.
Jakupovic Pleased To Get Started
Eldin Jakupović talks to LCFC TV after his first start for the Foxes in a 1-0 pre-season victory over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Wednesday.
“The boys are fantastic, from the first day I felt that I was a part of the team and that is the most important thing.”
Looking ahead to the double-header of friendlies against MK Dons and Wolverhampton Wanderers, Jakupović added: “We play on Friday and Saturday and I know there are two teams going to play.
“We have four more friendly games until the first big game away. We are going to have our chances, everybody will be able to show what he can do.”
