- Andy King featured as Wales booked a 1-0 win over Georgia in Tbilisi on Friday evening
- Aleksandar Dragović’s Austria improved Wales' odds of World Cup qualification, defeating Serbia 3-2
- Wales next face Republic of Ireland, a point behind leaders Serbia and one above ROI
- Demarai Gray started for England U21s in a 3-1 success over Scotland at Riverside Stadium
- Alex Pascanu and Daniel Iversen represented Romania U21s and Denmark U21s respectively

First up, in Tbilisi, Andy King earned his 42nd cap for Wales as Chris Coleman’s men closed to within a point of European Group D leaders Serbia with a 1-0 success over Georgia.

King, the only man in the Club’s history to amass over 40 international caps during his Leicester City career, completed the full 90 minutes for his country at Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena.

Former Foxes forward Tom Lawrence scored the decisive goal, a thunderous second-half strike, before Aleksandar Dragović’s Austria did King and his compatriots a favour in Vienna.

City’s summer loan signing featured in a 3-2 victory over Serbia at Ernst-Happel-Stadion, a result which opens the door for Wales to overtake the leaders next week.

However, the same now applies for the Republic of Ireland, who will tackle Wales in Cardiff on Monday, after they overcame Moldova by two goals, courtesy of Daryl Murphy's brace.

Serbia remain likely to book the victory over Georgia which they require but, if they falter, Wales and ROI will battle it out for an automatic qualification spot on Monday.

Eight runners-up of nine with the strongest record in their groups will proceed to play-offs to decide the remaining four European berths at the 2018 World Cup.

Elsewhere, Demarai Gray featured for 70 minutes during a 3-1 UEFA EURO qualifying victory for the England U21s over Scotland at Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough.

Josh Onomah, Tammy Abraham, Dominic Solanke struck for Aidy Boothroyd’s young Lions, who did not have Ben Chilwell among their ranks through injury.

Development Squad pair Alex Pascanu and Daniel Iversen also tasted victory, for Denmark U21s and Romania U21s respectively.

Pascanu impressed in Lugano as Romania triumphed 2-0 against Switzerland while Iversen was a reliable figure in goal during Denmark’s 5-2 success over Georgia.
