Morgan: Fantastic Foxes
- Leicester City’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur was nothing short of fantastic, says skipper Wes Morgan
- Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez both scored stunning goals to help the Foxes to three Premier League points
- Morgan made his 250th appearance for the Club against Spurs
Jamie Vardy’s seventh Premier League goal of the season – a sublime volley over Hugo Lloris – and Riyad Mahrez’s excellent solo effort proved enough for the Foxes to defeat Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
The visitors replied through former City loanee Harry Kane inside the final 10 minutes, but Leicester, with the help of skipper Morgan, defended valiantly to secure the win.
“We’re absolutely delighted,” Morgan told LCFC TV. “We played very well tonight. We showed our quality at times, especially in the first half – to get the two goals in the first half was fantastic.
“Vards (Jamie Vardy) was very good tonight. He ran all day long and he got that special goal. I don’t know how he did it. I’ll have to look back at it, but it was a great goal. That got us off on the front foot.
Morgan Reflects On Spurs Victory
City captain Wes Morgan reveals his delight after defeating Tottenham 2-1 at King Power Stadium.
“We’ve been working on that in training – starting well and finishing well at the same time and I felt we did that. In the second half, we were under a lot of pressure and they started to attack.
“We conceded, but we managed to see the game out in the end. They really piled the pressure on. They started to go quite direct and started to go wide to put the crosses in.
“We had to do some real defending but everyone put their bodies on the line to see the game out.”
City have lost just once – to league leaders Manchester City – since Claude Puel’s arrival and while Morgan believes his side’s performances have warranted more points, there’s plenty for the Blue Army to look forward to.
We’ve shown in recent weeks that we can pass the ball and we can play. I feel that we should have got more points that we have, in the last few games especially.

He continued: “We’ve shown in recent weeks that we can pass the ball and we can play. I feel that we should have got more points that we have, in the last few games especially.
“Hopefully, we can move forward, start picking up points and looking up the league.”
Morgan’s appearance against Tottenham proved to be his 250th in Leicester colours and following an incredible few seasons at the Club, he reflected fondly on his Foxes career to date.
“It’s been incredible looking back,” added City’s No.5. “I had a conversation earlier looking back at some of the highlights and there’s many highlights, which is fantastic for me.
“It’s been great since I moved here and I’ve had some great memories. It’s 250 appearances but it felt like yesterday since I joined the Club. To get 250 games is a big achievement.”
