Fellow debutant Kairo Edwards-John, a second half substitute, levelled the scores following Alex Denny’s 70th minute opener before Hamza Choudhury’s winner from the spot late on.
It is a result which confirms City’s status as Group F winners in the Premier League Cup and Thandi, 18, later spoke to LCFC TV about the joy of making his Holmes Park bow.
Thandi Reflects On U23s Outing
Simran Thandi speaks to LCFC TV following his full debut for the Club's Development Squad.
“It’s a great feeling, to get the start, to get the call-up, especially after a game on Saturday [for the Under-18s], so I'm delighted,” he said after completing 90 minutes for the Under-23s for the first time.
“It’s a perfect start and it’s what I need to prove myself and to get the opportunity to play on this pitch, which I’ve been willing to do for a long time.
“I worked hard in games for the Under-18s and it’s a perfect feeling coming up and being able to play. It’s a great achievement, it just shows that all hard work pays off.
I’ve been working hard in the Under-18s, getting to train with the Under-23s and getting an insight into what it’s like. Getting the opportunity, it’s a big step but it’s a great step as well.

Both Steve Beaglehole’s Development Squad and Trevor Peake’s Academy side have enjoyed success this season and Thandi hopes it can continue over the coming months.
“It’s a great feeling, winning, and hopefully the Under-23s can continue their success and win the league and it would be a great opportunity to be a part of that,” Thandi added.
“Especially with the Liverpool game coming up as well, it’s a great experience and winning is the best feeling so it’s great.”
