City The Better Side For Maguire
- Harry Maguire spoke highly of Leicester City’s performance against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday
- The Foxes scored four superb goals but returned to Leicester empty handed following a 5-4 loss
- Maguire says the amount of chances created by the Foxes was encouraging
An entertaining 90 minutes of football saw the Foxes sign off their season with a narrow loss to Mauricio Pochettino’s men at Wembley Stadium.
Jamie Vardy’s excellent double and fine strikes from Riyad Mahrez and Kelechi Iheanacho were not enough for Claude Puel’s men, who at one point led by two goals in the capital.
“It was a crazy game, end-to-end,” Maguire told LCFC TV. “We were probably the better side out there and we definitely deserved something out of the game, if you look at the quality of our goals.

“On their goals, there were a few mistakes on our part where we just gifted them goals. We have to tighten up there. We should really be walking into the dressing room with a victory.
“We could have scored numerous goals out there, we had chance after chance. I’d definitely say that the best team lost.”
While Maguire felt hard done by at full-time whistle, the England international had some kind words for City’s front line after four quality strikes.
“They were four brilliant goals,” he continued. “You’ve seen by our attacking play, we’ve got ability to hurt teams – top teams. We wanted to come to Wembley today and go toe-to-toe with them.
Some great memories throughout the season. Does anything beat this? 👀💙 Enjoy your summer ☀️ #LCFC pic.twitter.com/9Tu8MRHqcB

“We wanted to try and show that we can go toe-to-toe with the top teams. We did in midweek and we’ve more than done that. We knew it was going to be an open game, we wanted to attack them and we wanted to press as well.
“We want to score ourselves but we have to be a bit careful at the back. Rather than going gung-ho, maybe sometimes we just need to settle down, especially after we scored goals.
“It was an exciting game to play in, it was really enjoyable, apart from obviously losing the game and losing the last goal. I think if we’d have left it at 4-4, maybe we could have shut the shop up and we could have gone home and everyone would have been happy.”
